Our Beginnings

Founded in 2005, UF's Member Leadership Program (MLP) is a year long mentorship and leadership program for freshmen and sophomores. MLP is part of the Hispanic Student Association and is funded by UF's Student Government.
Our mission is to foster growth, development and success in order to create principled leaders that will empower our community.
Through MLP, our students are able to network with fellow students and alumni, create everlasting friendships, shadow student leaders on campus, receive advice and guidance from their very own MLP Mentor, and professionally develop themselves into the future leaders of our community. If you want to take the next step into getting involved at UF, the Member Leadership Program is a great way to do it!
THE BREAKDOWN
We divide our program each year into two classes, Fall and Spring, and our program is two semesters long.
Our selection process involves an online application and a follow-up interview.
Once selected, the inductees are responsible for attending our mandatory retreat.
Once in the program, members will be required to attend weekly meetings, community events, and participate in their appointed committee groups, which will be held throughout the program.
Throughout the year, MLPers learn important leadership skills through seminars during our weekly meetings and apply those skills within their designated committees.
Each committee is responsible for putting on several events throughout the year.
THE COMMITTEES.
The committee’s focus is to create a friendly environment among the members, past and present. Members of this committee will work together to create interactive events to help develop better communication skills and promote friendship.

Membership Relations:
Servant Leadership:
This committee’s main focus is to serve the University of Florida and the Gainesville community. We aim to be leaders in service by finding problems in the community that inspire us. In this committee, one would be involved in community service event planning such as fundraisers, food drives, toy drives and any other needs the committee members find important to address.

Health and Wellness Affairs:
Organizational Outreach:
The committee's main focus is to introduce MLPers and other interested students with a variety of organizations on campus; examples include professional, social, and recreational organizations. This committee will create and plan networking socials to allow students to interact with representatives of various organizations and see which one could be their best fit.

Intracultural Affairs:
Intracultural Affairs strives to unite the Hispanic community and the 13 sub-organizations that fall under HSA. Our task is collaborating with these organizations to create events that bring together different types of Hispanic cultures. It also involves working with the different leaderships among the suborgs and unifying them all under the HSA umbrella. If you would like to get involved with the Hispanic community on campus, then this is the committee for you.
The committee’s prime focus is to promote health awareness that will benefit one’s physical and mental well-being. In this committee, one would engage with others to create/plan events relating to health and wellness such as sporting tournaments and workshops that would further get people on a healthier life track.
